Meet the Dealer: My Story, Background, and Why I Started This Business

I’ve always believed that the right watch tells more than time, it tells a story. My name is Guy, and I’m the person behind GBTimepieces. I started this business not because I set out to become a dealer, but because I fell in love with horology long before I ever considered a career in medicine. I just wanted to share my love for watches, and I was given this amazing opportunity to turn that passion into something real.

My journey into watches began with a blue Seiko 7548-7000, a hand-me-down my dad gave me when I was 12 years old. I still, and will always, love this watch more than any other piece in my collection.

I became fascinated by how much character, history, and engineering could be packed into something so small. That watch sparked a passion that would quietly grow in the background of everything else I did.

I graduated from UC Santa Barbara, and I’m currently completing my master’s program while preparing to apply to medical school next year. Through all of my classes and late night studying, watches remained a source of inspiration and relaxation. They were my break from the chaos, a constant reminder of craftsmanship and precision in a world that often felt anything but precise.

Like many collectors, I started buying and selling casually, upgrading pieces, rotating the collection, and learning the market. Over time, I realized I enjoyed the search just as much as owning the watches themselves. I loved studying the movements, researching references, understanding the differences between production years, finding clean examples, and bringing neglected pieces back to life.

Eventually, my friends and family started asking me to help them find watches. Then friends of friends. Somewhere along the way, this passion naturally became something bigger. Every TikTok and Instagram post I would see would be about watches, and I thought to myself, why not post the amazing pieces I come across? So, I decided to create an instagram page to share my own watch journey.

The social media watch community has been truly amazing. I love seeing the unique photos people take of their beautiful timepieces, as well as discovering and connecting with many new watch brands.

I’ve always believed that if I was going to turn this passion into a real business, I’d do it the right way, with honesty, transparency, and intention. That’s why I only list my top picks on the site, even though my access reaches much further. I work with an extremely reputable and long-established dealer network, and most of my sales come from sourcing pieces on request. This lets me focus on quality rather than volume, offering standout watches at the best price I can, while helping clients find exactly what they’re looking for through trusted channels.

As my account and website grow, I want this site to become more than a storefront. I’ll be sharing more social media content, from market insights and watch reviews to lifestyle pieces, collector stories, funny memes, and updates from my own personal collection. Whether you’re buying your first watch or sourcing something special, my goal is to make the process comfortable, informed, and personal. If you ever need help, advice, or want a specific watch sourced, my inbox is always open.

Thank you so much for all the support, I couldn’t have done this without you all. I’m excited for everything that’s coming next, and I can’t wait to keep growing this journey together.
